Our Writing Process

All pupils at Mayflower Community Academy follow the Edit to Embed it process when completing a piece of independent writing.

By following this process, pupils will develop the skills which will enable them to self-reflect on their writing, make improvements through using their purple pen and consequently they will increase their conferencing skills by having meaningful conversations about their own writing and their personal next steps.

Teachers aim to create meaningful audiences for the children’s writing. This gives our pupil’s writing a purpose and pupils have the motivation to complete each piece with pride. By sharing the children’s writing through a number of platforms, pupils at Mayflower Community Academy continue to develop their communication skills.
