Mayflower’s First Radio 2 Author
Charlie becomes Mayflower’s First Radio 2 Author
Charlie has become the first ever pupil from Mayflower to make it through to the first round of BBC Radio 2’s 500 writing competition.
“I enjoy writing stories and Mrs. Taylor, my Teacher, has taught me how to create multiple drafts and review my work to make it beautiful. I have learnt how to improve my writing by editing it and it is really fun. I never used to like writing and found concentrating hard. I love writing now. Mr. Sammels listened to my stories when Dr. Gary Jones visited our Academy. They were so impressed that they both suggested that I should enter Chris Evans’s Radio 2’s 500 words writing competition. I am so pleased that I did, but never believed I would be so successful. My mum is going to be so proud when she finds out that my story has been selected for the next round. I feel like a real author.”
Staff at Mayflower are so proud of Charlie and hope that her obvious success goes on to inspire other pupils and that they too share their story writing skills.
Well done Charlie from everyone at Mayflower; we all have our fingers crossed for you.
