Oracy Community Workshops

Target Audience: Parents, Carers, Teaching staff.
Title: Oracy at Mayflower Community Academy: An introduction to talk and vocabulary.
Intended Outcome: To introduce Oracy to parents/carers.
Together we can…talk about the importance of talk.

During the first lockdown we introduced a parent group to the importance of teaching Oracy. We used this opportunity to share what we produced during home learning and the benefits of working on Oracy tasks. We also shared the resources which we use so that these could also be used at home. Intended Outcome: To provide parents/ carers with resources to talk about learning at home.

This was a short introduction to Oracy and questioning skills for parents and carers of Mayflower Community Academy. During this workshop, we spent time looking at how speaking and listening can be used to develop pupil’s confidence in their voice. We also provided parents/carers with resources to follow up the presentation, which can be found in the ‘tools and resources’ menu.
